MSF provides clean water to Aby Aday IDP camp in Sheraro, Tigray. MSF re-started activities in Tigray in November 2022. Water and sanitation activities are a key priority to prevent the spreading of water borne diseases. In Sheraro, MSF team are trucking up to 1.4 million litres of water to serve six IDP camps every day.

In Congo's rainforest, MSF cured 15.000 pygmies affected by Yaws, a neglected disease, in 3 months (Sept - Oct 2012) using a new therapeutic regime (single dose oral antibiotic) Yaws is a neglected tropical disease caused by a bacterium that affects the skin, bone and cartilage. Lack of resources, it has never been completely eradicated. Humans are the only reservoir of this bacterial infection. A recent discovery that a single-dose of azithromycin (given orally) can cure the disease has raised the prospects of eradicating yaws altogether. It affects many isolated communities whose populations Congo Pigmy North, away from the health care system. MSF-Epicentre with OCP decided to launch a universal treatment with azithromycin that can eradicate this illness among Aboriginal people (Pygmies) in the Bétou and Enyellé districts. During two months (in september and october 2012), three MSF teams have traveled on the Ubangi River, which separates the two Congos and trails through the rainforest. A real human and logistical challenge to achieve these Pygmy communities in their villages in the rainy season because it is the only time during which they are sedentary.

Paulina Cassombu has been in Cuvango Municipal Hospital, in southwestern Angola, with her daughter, Rosa, for three weeks. Rosa was admitted with severe malnutrition and was covered in painful blisters and could not walk for a long period of time. Now, as she got better, and with the help of psychostimulation sessions, has been able to regain her mobility. “She came in with a lot of blisters. She is much better now and it makes me happy,” said Paulina. Both in Cuvango and Chipindo Municipal Hospitals, through psychostimulation sessions, psychologists have worked to re-establish mobility, cognition, confidence, and mother to child bond after a child has been in a critical condition in the hospital for an extended period.

أنغولا

غادرت منظمة أطباء بلا حدود أنغولا في نهاية عام 2018 لكنها تواصل مراقبة الوضع هناك، وهي مستعدة للاستجابة في حال حدوث حالات طوارئ جديدة.

أوغندا

فرّ مئات الآلاف من اللاجئين إلى شمال أوغندا بعد أعمال العنف في جنوب السودان. وتُعتبر أوغندا حاليًا أكبر بلد مضيف للاجئين في أفريقيا.

Dr Dieudonné has been on assignement at the Klouékanmè Hospital since October 2023. He supports the medical team, provides training in obstetrical care and helps organize the department.
