MSF counsellor educator, Maryam Alimu having a play therapy session with Latifat Abdulkareem’s seven-month-old daughter Aisha Abdulkareem, who is on admission and is being treated for malnutrition at MSF’s facility Nilefa Kiji, Maiduguri, Borno state, northeast Nigeria. These play sessions are part of activities organised by the MSF mental health team to help both the children suffering from malnutrition and their caregivers. Latifat says that she brought her daughter to the MSF facility after she fainted. Latifat narrates that she felt terrible when her daughter fainted. For days, she could not sleep because she feared that her daughter would not make it. Aisha has been on admission for five days. Latifat said that she has other children at home and is worried about them. Recently, she had to ask that her eldest son be brought to her in the hospital. He said that they were hungry since I was not around. That made me feel sad. Lately, I have been joining the group sessions at the mental health ground. The counsellors are very kind.

Decontamination teams are visiting the home of a patient who is being treated at the Elikya Ebola treatment centre. She has tested positive for the Bundibugyo virus.
To break the chain of transmission, they go through the house and decontaminate everything that has come into contact with the infected person: clothes, armchairs, doors, windows and mattresses.
These decontamination measures ensure that the family can continue to live in the home without risking infection.
They are accompanied by a family member, wearing personal protective equipment, who shows them around the different rooms and ensures the decontamination process runs smoothly by providing the necessary information.
Once the inside of the house has been decontaminated, the teams go round the property and decontaminate the kitchen and the toilets, which are located outside.
