في أعقاب الهجوم الأخير للقوات الموالية للرئيس هادي وبدعم من التحالف الدولي بقيادة السعودية والإمارات في الحديدة، افتتحت منظمة أطباء بلا حدود في المخا مستشفى ميدانيًا جراحيًا يحتوي على 20 سريرًا، على بعد 180 كيلومترًا جنوب الحديدة، استجابة للاحتياجات الطبية المتزايدة. تصريح - 2 أغسطس/آب 2018

سيغادر مركب الإنقاذ أكواريوس، والذي تديره منظمة أطباء بلا حدود بالشراكة مع منظمة أس أو أس ميديتراني، اليوم من مرسيليا بعد فترة ممتدة من بقائه في الميناء. وسيعود المركب إلى وسط البحر المتوسط لتقديم المساعدة للأشخاص المنكوبين في عرض البحر. بيان صحفي - 1 أغسطس/آب 2018
 
Haroon, 8 months old, is treated in in the intensive care unit so he can be stabilised, before being transferred to the therapeutic nutrition center (CNT). He shows symptoms of severe malnutrition and anaemia. His physical condition worsened because of blood loss as the result of a traditional 'scarification' ceremony, where marks are cut into the face and body to indicate social and tribal affiliations. Haroon had been bleeding and getting weaker for three days, before he was brought to the hospital by his mother. A nurse is preparing the baby for a blood transfusion. Haroon will be treated in the intensive care unit for at least four days, with transfusions, antibiotics and therapeutic milk.

ويعتبر سوء التغذية الحاد مشكلة مستوطنة في نجامينا وفي تشاد بشكل عام، وقد بلغ انتشاره الآن معدلات مقلقة في العاصمة. ويأتي هذا نتيجة للأثر التراكمي لانخفاض القدرة الشرائية لدى الناس، لا سيما في الفترة الموسمية التي يكون فيها الغذاء شحيحاً، وإضراب موظفي القطاع العام الذي يترك أثره على قطاع الرعاية الصحية. بيان صحفي - 27 يوليو/تموز 2018
 
Tanya is not at school, because her father cannot afford the fees. She spends a lot of time in and around the house. “When the other kids are playing outside my home, I try and use my crutches to keep up but they don’t slow down for me because I can’t walk as fast. When it happens, and they run away from me, it hurts me a lot. I start calling out to them. If they don’t come back, I go inside my home. When they run away, it’s very painful to me, sometimes it even gives me a pain in my stomach, deep down, and that’s why I end up sleeping and I will wish that my Daddy will come home and that he will be with me. When Dad comes home and I tell him what happened, he says, don’t worry about them, they are just kids playing around,” she says.

أوقفوا الاحتجاز التعسفي للاجئين والمهاجرين في ليبيا

تدعو المنظمة الطبية الدولية أطباء بلا حدود إلى وضع حد للاحتجاز التعسفي للاجئين وطالبي اللجوء والمهاجرين في ليبيا بعد زيادة مهولة في عدد الأشخاص الذين تم اعتراض سبيلهم في البحر الأبيض المتوسط على يد خفر السواحل الليبي المدعوم من الاتحاد الأوروبي، وتمت إعادتهم الى ليبيا. فقد تمت إعادة ما لا يقل عن 10 آلاف شخص إلى ليبيا من قوارب غير صالحة للإبحار في البحر المتوسط حتى الآن من هذا العام وفقاً لمنظمات تابعة للأمم المتحدة، مع استمرار عمليات اعتراض القوارب في المياه الدولية بين إيطاليا ومالطا وليبيا بشكل يومي تقريباً. وعند عملية إنزال الأشخاص، يتم نقلهم إلى مراكز احتجاز غير خاضعة للتنظيم الرقابي على طول الساحل. تصريح - 25 يوليو/تموز 2018

تعتبر مصر إحدى نقاط العبور الرئيسية ووجهة المهاجرين القادمين من بلدان أفريقيا والشرق الأوسط، كان قد واجه الكثيرون منهم صعوباتٍ هائلة خلال رحلاتهم. ارتفع عدد الوافدين إلى مصر بشكلٍ حاد في الأعوام الماضية جرّاء النزاع وانعدام الاستقرار في سوريا والعراق والسودان وجنوب السودان وإريتريا والصومال وليبيا وبلدان عديدة أخرى. يعيش هؤلاء الأشخاص بصورة رئيسية في القاهرة الكبرى والإسكندرية ودمياط. أصوات من الميدان - 19 يوليو/تموز 2018

Mosul’s old town experienced intense shelling, aerial bombing and attacks with improvised explosive devices (IED) during the conflict to retake the city from the Islamic State group in 2016/17. Much of the old city is still inaccessible due to the destruction and presence of IEDs, unexploded ordinance (UXO) and booby traps. Between 5,000 and 7,000 people have returned to their homes in Mosul’s old city, despite the danger of explosive remnants of war. They face extremely difficult conditions, often living without water and electricity and in partially damaged houses.

Zainab* stepped on an improvised explosive device when she was running through the streets of Mosul trying to flee fighting between the Islamic State (IS) group and the Iraqi forces. Hours later Zainab woke up in a hospital south of Mosul. She had badly broken her leg and had lost a lot of blood. Over the past year she has suffered immensely as she has tried to access healthcare in Mosul to fix her broken leg. But in city still recovering from the conflict, public health facilities for Mosul’s war-wounded are scarce. Zainab is now receiving treatment in the Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) surgery and post-operative care unit in east Mosul. “Our family became separated when we were fleeing our home in 11 April 2017. I don't know what happened, I must have stepped on something and I lost consciousness. I woke up in a hospital in Hamman al-Alil (30km south of Mosul). The doctors had to give me blood transfusions. About 19 bags of blood in total. Some of my daughters also got injured with shrapnel,” Zainab says. “I've had about 15 operations on my leg so far. When I did the operation with the private doctor I said it was the last operation, I thought it would be finished. But the operation failed and it started to get infected. Then I came here (MSF’s post-operative care facility) and I've had two operations, and I still have three more operations until it's fixed. “The healthcare situation in Mosul is so bad because all the hospitals are destroyed. Since my injury we haven't visited any public hospitals, only private hospitals. “My injury has changed my whole life and it has made me exhausted and my family exhausted. Each time I have an operation I hope it is the last.” The MSF facility provides free surgeries, post-operative care, rehabilitation and mental healthcare, especially for war-wounded patients. MSF works closely with local health authorities to refer the most urgent patients for care. The facility is run by a team of 30 highly qualified international and Iraqi medical experts and has a 33-bed capacity. *Name changed to protect her identify.

مأساة جرحى الحرب في الموصل: "لقد أجروا حوالي 15 عملية جراحية لرجلي حتى اللحظة."

لا تعلم زينب* كيف أصيبت رجلها. فآخر ما تتذكره هو أنها كانت تركض في شوارع الموصل محاولة الهرب من القتال الذي حصل بين عناصر الدولة الإسلامية والقوات العراقية. وبعد ساعات أفاقت لتجد نفسها في المستشفى بجنوب الموصل. وكانت رجلها مكسورة وخسرت الكثير من الدماء. وخلال السنة الماضية، عانت زينب كثيراً في محاولاتها للحصول على الرعاية الصحية بالموصل لعلاج رجلها. لكن في هذه المدينة التي لا زالت تحاول التعافي من النزاع، فإن المرافق الصحية التي تُعنى بعلاج الجرحى تبقى نادرة. تتلقى زينب الآن العلاج في وحدة الجراحة ورعاية ما بعد العمليات في شرق الموصل.
