There are more than 4,400 patients with renal failure in Yemen who are struggling to get weekly dialysis sessions to stay alive. To avoid potential death, patients rely on machines to clean their blood, something normally done by functioning kidneys. Those living with kidney failure normally should attend dialysis treatment sessions three times per week at four hours per session. In order for patients to receive treatment, treatment centres have to be functioning and supplies must be available. Most of the functioning dialysis centers in Yemen lack supplies causing interruptions in treatment to patients in need. And because of the pressure on the dialysis centres, most renal failure patients now receive only two weekly sessions instead of three in order for the dialysis centers to be able to accommodate all the patients they are receiving.

Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) teams are working with refugees and migrants in the transit zones of Kelebjia and Horgos in Subotica, Serbia on the Hungarian border.

These transit camps have formed because Hungary remains the only legal entry to the EU but the daily quotas reduced to 8-15 people per day per transit zone. This creates back-log accentuated by violent push-backs.
Main interventions :
MSF Mobile clinics for medical care and mental health.
Distribution of non-food items
WASH activities as allowed by authorities.

A Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) mobile clinic at St Theresa's Church in Juba, where 2,500 people are taking refuge. The team is focusing on those who are most in need of medical care, and have been treating hundreds people every day, with the main medical needs including malaria, malnutrition, diarrhea and respiratory tract infections. People in parts of Juba remain in urgent need of food, shelter, water and medical care.

نيجيريا

كارثة صحيّة في ولاية بورنو

بلغ الوضع الصحي في ولاية بورنو شمال شرق نيجيريا مستوىً حرجاً، فهناك 500,000 شخص على الأقل من النازحين أو المعزولين عن العالم في المناطق المحاصرة خارج العاصمة ميدوغوري، وهم بأمسّ الحاجة إلى الغذاء والرعاية الطبية ومياه الشرب والمأوى. وتقول الدكتورة إيزابيل ديفورني، مديرة العمليات في منظمة أطباء بلا حدود بأنّ على "وكالات الإغاثة أن تبدأ بتنفيذ عمليات إغاثةٍ واسعة استجابةً لهذه الكارثة الصحية". بيان صحفي - 20 يوليو/تموز 2016

MSF and SOS Méditerranée take a moment to remember those people who lost their life by saying a few words and dropping roses into the sea.

MV Aquarius disembarks 209 people and the dead bodies of 21 women and one man in Trapani, Sicily on the 22nd July 2016.

The search and recue vessel, a partnership between MSF and SOS Méditerranée, responded to a boat in distress on 20th July 2016.

تمكنت اليوم سفينة البحث والإنقاذ أكواريوس، التي تسيِّرها كلٌ من منظمة أطباء بلا حدود وجمعية "إس أو إس ميديتيرانيه"، من إنقاذ 209 أشخاص كانوا يستقلون قاربين مطاطيين في وضع حرج في وسط البحر الأبيض المتوسط. كما تمكن الفريق من انتشال جثث 21 امرأة ورجل واحد لقوا حتفهم في البحر. تصريح - 19 يوليو/تموز 2016

Community Care Giver Nonhlanhla Ngema passes a long queue of patients at Eshowe Gateway Clinic to pick up ARVs for members of her Community ART Group (CAG). Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) has been piloting CAGs as a model of care for stable HIV+ patients in rural districts of southern Africa, where HIV prevalence is at its highest. CAG members meet once every two months to review their health and arrange for collection of their ARVs without having to sit in long queues at clinics.

Hulud has her children vaccinated at a vaccination campaign organized by MSF at a camp near Evzeni, Greece.

37 year old Hasim, and Hulud, 32, together with their four children and Hulud's brother, Hassin are camping in a forest near a BP petrol station in Evzeni, Greece.

They left their home in Der Alsor, in Syria, about 1 year ago deciding to leave when the bombings were getting closer. They left everything behind.

Hulud says: "We did not bring anything from home, only our children".

She is an English teacher, while Hasim used to work as electrician. "We used to have money, now we have lost it all.

Before the war 1 euro was about 60 Syrian pounds, Now you need 700".

The family hopes to find someone who will lend them the money to pay smuggler and cross into Macedonia. "You need to find someone who is reliable, we hope that some friends have crossed already will give us some names".
Hulud adds: "We don't want to go to Germany if that is not possible. We would be happy anywhere, as long as it is a safe place for our children, that they can go to school, and we can find a job for my husband".

In Syria they made a comfortable living - so seeing ther children playing in the mud, with no clean clothes is very upsetting. For all the everyday difficulties that simple chores bring, from buying tomatoes to doing the washing.

They have met several smugglers. To leave Syria and cross into Turkey, the smuggler told them to leave all their bags behind. The parents carried the smaller children, the others had to walk by themselves.

Hulud recalls: "It was night, we were told not to talk, and we were afraid of children making noises. If they cried, Turkish police would have shot at us. Then the smuggler told us to run, we ran, without seeing where we were going. Only after we reached a safe place we realized that some of us lost their shoes and that our feet were all cut by thorns".
