Brgy. New Nazareth, Basilisa, Dinagat Islands: Many villages along the coastal areas were hit by the typhoon, leaving damaged building and boats, and many without roofs over their heads.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) emergency teams will start providing medical and humanitarian assistance to communities on the remote islands of Dinagat, Siargao and other outlying areas, some of the worst affected by Typhoon Rai (local name: Odette), which struck the Philippines in December 2021 causing hundreds of casualties.

Much of the local economy depends on the rearing of livestock such as cows, goats and camels. Because of a lack of rain and a very bad harvest this year, it has become difficult for famers to feed their animals. Some have taken their cattle south to find pastures, or to sell their animals.

A family of 13 Iraqi Kurds including 4 children asked for asylum in Poland. The family was taken by the Polish border guards back to emergency state zone at the Belarusian border. On the next day, they sent their location indicating that were back on the Belarusian side of the border.

France Beldo, 31, was wounded during this clash between rebel groups and the national forces supported by their international allies on the outskirts of Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic.

Another bullet is still lodged in her shoulder. France says: "We cannot stay in such violence all the time, with the sounds of guns. Fear is winning people over. We cannot go out, if we do, we are always fearful."

“We have been here for a month now and one of our biggest challenges is finding shelter and food while waiting for our papers. We miss Venezuela, but there are no opportunities there for us nor for our children. We are friends and used to work as laundry assistants at a hotel, but after a while our salaries weren’t enough for us to eat,” say Vanesa and Daiviane.

They hope to find work and a house to live in and to provide a better life for their children.

MSF teams have treated 163 patients with shrapnel, blast and other conflict-related injures at its trauma hospital in Mocha, Yemen between November 8th and November 28th as conflict heavily intensified, raising urgent concerns for the health and safety of the population as well as the capacity of the health system to cope with influxes of conflict-related injuries.

Since the middle of November, MSF began to receive large influxes of war wounded patients. On November 12-13, teams received 34 wounded in two days and surgical teams worked around the clock to perform 20 surgeries in a single day. The following week, a second mass influx of 45 patients arrived to the hospital, including seven in critical condition. Of the 163 patients received by MSF since November 8th, 96 have arrived in with serious or critical condition.

في ظل اشتداد حدة النزاع، عالجت فرق أطباء بلا حدود 163 جريحا خلال الفترة ما بين 8 إلى 28 نوفمبر/ تشرين الثاني في مستشفى المنظمة الجراحي في مدينة المخا في اليمن جرّاء إصابتهم بالشظايا أو الانفجارات أو غيرها من الإصابات الناجمة عن النزاع.

Since July 2020, severe flooding have affected an estimated 800,000 people across a wide swathe of South Sudan, inundating homes and leaving people without adequate food, water or shelter. As of beginning of December 2020, in Fangak county, Jonglei state, the water levels remain high, and in some areas continue rising, affecting people on a daily basis.

Mosul’s old town experienced intense shelling, aerial bombing and attacks with improvised explosive devices (IED) during the conflict to retake the city from the Islamic State group in 2016/17. Much of the old city is still inaccessible due to the destruction and presence of IEDs, unexploded ordinance (UXO) and booby traps.

Between 5,000 and 7,000 people have returned to their homes in Mosul’s old city, despite the danger of explosive remnants of war. They face extremely difficult conditions, often living without water and electricity and in partially damaged houses.
