Zakia (32 years old), and her twins, Qassim and Abbas Zakia has just given birth to twins, Abbas and Qasim, born 20 minutes apart. Abbas, who came first, is also the smallest; he was hypoglycemic at birth and was placed in the incubator for a few hours. Before her twins, Zakia, 32, had four other children: she is no longer a novice when it comes to newborns, but this time there are two of them. Her mother, Sakina, came to help her for a few days. When I ask her how many times she is a grandmother, Sakina needs to count... 18 times already. And not all her children are married yet. Zakia's first child was born at home, the next two in the hospital. For her fourth, finding a taxi to take her to the hospital took too long, she was already in labor and Zakia had to give birth at home. She is lucky, all her deliveries were the same: quick and easy. For her twins, once she arrived at the door of the maternity ward, she went straight to the delivery room. Six children, all boys. Zakia would have liked to have a girl, she hoped that this pregnancy would bring her one. Her mother would also have wanted her to have a daughter, to help her with her daily chores. Raising girls is more difficult according to both women: they have more to learn from the prospect of being married. More rules to follow too, more responsibilities. In Afghanistan, even though both parents are educating, mothers are more involved. Zakia and her family come from Ghazni. Ten years ago, they preferred to leave their region because they were afraid that the Taliban would recruit their husbands, both of whom have no permanent jobs. When the family arrived in Kabul, like many Hazara families arriving from the provinces, they lived in Dasht-e Barchi. A few years ago, the neighbourhood was accessible and very cheap. They had their own house for 2000 Afghanis per month (25 euros). Two years ago, their landlord wanted to take over the house and they moved here, to Karte Sakhi. They pay 2500 afghanis (30 euros) in rent but are three families sharing the house. Each family has its own room.

تأكيد مقتل 15 أمّ في الهجوم على قسم الأمومة في كابول

خلال الأسابيع الثلاثة التي تلت الهجوم الفاجع على قسم الأمومة الذي أدارته أطباء بلا حدود في مستشفى دشت برجي في كابول في أفغانستان، تأكّد مقتل 15 أم من بين 24 شخص لقيوا حتفهم في الهجوم. نسأل السلطات المعنية إجراء تحقيق في هذا الهجوم الوحشيّ. تحديث حول مشروع - 4 يونيو/حزيران 2020

في أعقاب اقتحام عنيف لمرفق صحي تدعمه أطباء بلا حدود في ولاية وسط دارفور، نجم عنه إصابة موظف من المنظّمة، تحثّ المنظمة كافة المجموعات المسلّحة في السودان على احترام العمل الطبي والإنساني. تصريح - 15 مايو/أيار 2020

جاءوا ليقتلوا الأمهات في الهجوم على مستشفى الأمومة في كابول

اقتحم عدد مجهول من المهاجمين مستشفى دشت برجي متوجّهين مباشرةً إلى قسم الأمومة الذي ندعمه، ومطلقين النار على الأمهات في أسرّتهنّ. قتل 24 شخصاً، من بينهم 3 نساء حوامل وصبيين صغيرين وقابلة قانونية مع أطباء بلا حدود إثر الهجوم بينما جرح 20 شخصاً آخرين. أصوات من الميدان - 14 مايو/أيار 2020

Al-Thawra hospital has been at the receiving end of indiscriminate attacks by the different armed groups in the city. Between 2018 and 2020, MSF has recorded at least (40) incidents of violence against the premises of Al-Thawra General Hospital, its medical personnel and patients, including shootings inside or near hospital premises.

The Shiara hospital, an MSF-supported facility in Razeh district (Northern Yemen), was hit by a projectile in northern Yemen on January 10thm resulting in five deaths, eight injured and the collapse of several buildings of the medical facility. One of the critical injured victim, passed away on Sunday 17th after being transferred to the ICU at the MSF hospital in Saada. More than 130 health centres and hospitals have been affected by the conflict ravaging the country in the last ten months.

علقت منظمة أطباء بلا حدود استقبال جميع المرضى في مستشفى الصداقة في عدن إثر اختطاف مريض من حرم المستشفى ‏ومقتله لاحقاً. هذه الحادثة تضمّ إلى سلسلة من التهديدات التي تعرّض لها مرضانا وموظفينا في مستشفانا في عدن منذ بداية ‏العام.‏
