A multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, health promoters and mental health counsellors participate in the organisation and implementation of support group sessions for diabetes type I children and adolescents. During these sessions, the MSF team addresses topics such as nutrition, healthy habits, signs of hyper & hypoglycaemia, in addition to mental health related topics, such as expressing personal feeling, anger management and respiration technics, among other topics.
The aim of these sessions is to create a safe space where the children can express themselves, exchange experiences, and learn about, not only their disease, but also and the best ways to live with it.

As part of the healthy lifestyle that the medical team recommends, Houssam was advised to exercise whenever he has Hyperglycaemia. Houssam’s favourite sports is football, he plays it with his brother in the surroundings of his tent in Aarsal.
