يجب توفير الرعاية الصحيّة للاجئين الروهينغا لتجنب كارثة صحيّة وإنسانيّة

أكّدت منظمة أطباء بلا على ضرورة زيادة المساعدات الانسانية في بنغلاديش بشكل كبير، لتجنّب وقوع كارثة كبيرة في مجال الصحة العامة، وذلك إزاء وصول مئات آلاف اللاجئين الروهينغا. بيان صحفي - 21 سبتمبر/أيلول 2017

"When an airstrike hit my house in the middle of the night I suffered shrapnel wounds and my legs were so badly damaged that one had to be amputated. I only found out about the amputation when I regained consciousness in a field hospital in Dara’a, Syria. Just two hours after waking up, I was discharged from hospital. As my home had been destroyed, I was taken to my relative’s house, where my children were staying. They had been there during the night of the bombing too, so they were safe.

Seeing my children again was the hardest part. I felt weak, disabled. The kids were frightened of me without my leg. My little boy was afraid of me. He’s just one and a half years old – I used to hug him and feed him, but the last time I saw him, he was scared and went to his aunt instead.

After the amputation in Syria, I was taken across the border, to Ramtha, where I’ve had more surgery. I’m also currently undergoing physiotherapy for a prosthesis.

I have three children, aged nine, eight and one and a half. Their father died, and now I’m in Ramtha, Jordan being treated, while my children are still in Syria. I can’t stop thinking about getting back to them, I don’t know how they are doing or if anything will happen to them.

I am improving with physiotherapy and getting stronger everyday, but I will only return home when I am strong enough to walk and take care of my children. People ask me where I find my strength, but my body is more than just my leg. I must be strong for my children. I must not give in to despair – this injury will not destroy me.

I promised my children I’d come home, and I will."

A refugee in the Cacanda camp shows the traumatic injury caused during the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). MSF provides mental health services for refugees in need, many of whom are direct witnesses or victims of the violence.

10,000 people displaced by the fighting that erupted last week in Batangafo (north of Central African Republic) are still sheltering in the compound of the hospital managed by MSF. The teams there have tried to improve water provision, sanitation and hygiene conditions. The displaced people were forced out of the camp in which they were sheltering after it was looted and burned down during the fighting.
The hospital is considered just one of a handful of “safe spaces” left in Batangafo. MSF calls on those organisations responsible to facilitate the necessary conditions to ensure the safe return of the people to the camp. 11 people died, and nine wounded individuals were treated by MSF teams.

Alrededor de diez mil personas, desplazadas por los violentos enfrentamientos de la semana pasada en Batangafo, (en el norte de la República Centroafricana), siguen refugiadas en el recinto del hospital de la ciudad, gestionado por MSF. Los equipos están tratando de mejorar las condiciones de higiene y provisión de agua y saneamiento en la zona. La comunidad tuvo que huir del campo de desplazados en el que se refugiaban debido a la violencia. Buena parte del campo fue saqueado y posteriormente incendiado.

El hospital es considerado como uno de los escasos lugares seguros en Batangafo: MSF hace un llamamiento para que se faciliten las condiciones necesarias para el retorno con seguridad de los refugiados en el recinto hospitalario al campo de desplazados.
