Hulud has her children vaccinated at a vaccination campaign organized by MSF at a camp near Evzeni, Greece.

37 year old Hasim, and Hulud, 32, together with their four children and Hulud's brother, Hassin are camping in a forest near a BP petrol station in Evzeni, Greece.

They left their home in Der Alsor, in Syria, about 1 year ago deciding to leave when the bombings were getting closer. They left everything behind.

Hulud says: "We did not bring anything from home, only our children".

She is an English teacher, while Hasim used to work as electrician. "We used to have money, now we have lost it all.

Before the war 1 euro was about 60 Syrian pounds, Now you need 700".

The family hopes to find someone who will lend them the money to pay smuggler and cross into Macedonia. "You need to find someone who is reliable, we hope that some friends have crossed already will give us some names".
Hulud adds: "We don't want to go to Germany if that is not possible. We would be happy anywhere, as long as it is a safe place for our children, that they can go to school, and we can find a job for my husband".

In Syria they made a comfortable living - so seeing ther children playing in the mud, with no clean clothes is very upsetting. For all the everyday difficulties that simple chores bring, from buying tomatoes to doing the washing.

They have met several smugglers. To leave Syria and cross into Turkey, the smuggler told them to leave all their bags behind. The parents carried the smaller children, the others had to walk by themselves.

Hulud recalls: "It was night, we were told not to talk, and we were afraid of children making noises. If they cried, Turkish police would have shot at us. Then the smuggler told us to run, we ran, without seeing where we were going. Only after we reached a safe place we realized that some of us lost their shoes and that our feet were all cut by thorns".

أعلنت منظّمة أطبّاء بلا حدود الإنسانية الطبية يوم الخميس أنه يجب استئناف المساعدات الإنسانية المقدَّمة لحوالي 60.000 شخص عالقين وسط ظروف قاسية بالقرب من الحدود الشمالية للأردن مع سوريا بشكل فوري، كما يجدر توفير الحماية الدولية لهم. تحديث حول مشروع - 30 يونيو/حزيران 2016

A surgery at MSF´s Al Salamah hospital in Azaz district in northern Syria. The 52 bed hospital includes an ER, an operating theatre,outpatient and inpatient services, including maternity care. It is the largest directly run MSF facility still inside Syria, managed by nearly 150 Syrian staff. Azaz district has seen new waves of displaced people arrive in recent months, and now an estimated 100,000 people are trapped in the area between shifting frontlines and the closed Turkish border. MSF teams travel out to displaced persons camps and surrounding areas to bring back patients, and MSF also provides distributions of emergency relief items. In May the hospital was forced to close when frontlines came too close, since June it has reopened only for emergency cases and surgeries.

"This is the first time MSF has been able to access Bama, but we already know the needs of the people there are beyond critical,” said Ghada Hatim, MSF head of mission in Nigeria. “We are treating malnourished children in medical facilities in Maiduguri and see the trauma on the faces of our patients who have witnessed and survived many horrors.”

During its assessment, the MSF team counted 1233 cemetery graves located near the camp which had been dug in the past year. Many of those graves—480—were of children
“Bama is largely closed off,” said Hatim. “We have been told that people including children there half starved to death. According to the accounts given to MSF by displaced people in Bama new graves are appearing on a daily basis. We were told more than 30 people are dying a day due to hunger and illness.”

Malakal: MSF teams in Malakal worked through the nights of Wednesday and Thursday to deal with injured patients after fighting erupted in the Protection of Civilians (PoC) site on Wednesday that resulted in 18 people dead, two of them MSF South Sudanese staff members. Seventy-three patients have been admitted so far to the hospital, 46 of them with gunshot wounds. One of MSF’s main concerns is the fate of 43,000 internally displaced people (IDPs) who took shelter in the UNMISS compound. They have been squeezed into a very tight area and access to water and sanitation is of real concern. MSF does not know how long they will be permitted to remain in the facility.

In February, the government announced measles, rubella and rabies epidemics. In response, MSF organised three mass measles vaccination campaigns for children under 15 in the town of Bria, at the displaced people camp in Batangafo, as well as in Batangafo town and the cities of Nzako and Bakouma. By the end of March, 33,000 children had been vaccinated.

Abu Jaber, 36, came to the Greek island of Samos with his 31-year-old wife Madiha and their young children. They were fleeing Syria's Aleppo after their house was destroyed.
"We were lucky because we weren't home when a Russian air raid flattened our home three months ago," Abu Jaber told MSF. "I thought we would find mercy in Europe, but it's even harder for us than it was in Syria. That's because when your expectations are high and you then face disillusionment, it's harder than when you had nothing at all to hope for."
