Yesterday night fire erupted in Moria, Lesbos, burning to the ground the entire camp and forcing 12000 people to evacuate the site. They are all on the streets now with no place to stay. "We saw the fire spread across #Moria and rage all night long. The whole place was engulfed in flames, we saw an exodus of people from a burning hell with no direction. Children scared and parents in shock. We are working now to address their needs." Marco Sandrone, MSF Project Coordinator in Lesbos.

Amara is the youngest in a family of 10 children. Since her birth, she has suffered from chest and breathing problems, so she was admitted to the paediatric ward that MSF runs in Elias Haraoui Governmental Hospital in Zahle, where she stayed for 10 days.
Amara’s mother, Rakad, is very grateful for the free services that her daughter received from MSF in the hospital. Since she was born, Amara’s health situation was putting burdens on her parents who can’t afford the cost of her treatment.
Rakad lives with her husband and 10 children in a refugee settlement. In addition to Amara’s health problems, two of Rakad’s children suffer from a physical disability and require treatment. All that Rakad wishes for is that her children get better, and the situation in Syria goes back to normal so the family can return.

Yasin is a 9-year-old boy from Afghanistan, who visits the MSF pediatric clinic once a week with his father Mohtar, to consult with a child psychologist.
Yasin suffers from nightmares and is constantly afraid that something bad will happen to him in Moria. When he grows up, he wants “to help children like his psychologist” in the MSF pediatric clinic that is located right across from Moria. Yasin lives in a makeshift shelter in the olive grove, with his 3-year-old brother and their parents.

Samar is 3 years old. She came with her father to the MSF medical point to receive wound care. Samar was going with her father out of their building on the day of the explosion and the steal gate caused her facial injuries and burns. She already had reconstructive plastic surgery. MSF has established a fixed point in the Mar Mikhael and Karantina neighborhoods in Beirut, two of the areas most impacted by the blast, to provide medical support to the people affected by the explosion. The team provides wound care (dressings), rapid consultations for people with non-communicable diseases, as well as psychological first aid.
