Roughly 200 people from two boats in distress were rescued on the morning of May 9. Everyone is now safe on board the Geo Barents while we continue the search for more boats in distress. Right after the rescue we saw the Libyan Coast Guard navigating at a very close distance from the Geo Barents.

Juliette, 23, is pregnant and the mother of two children aged 5 and 2.
She is a rice, coffee and pepper farmer.
 Juliette lives in the "fokontany" (neighbourhood) of Ambodiriana, an hour's walk from the Ambodirian'i Sahafary health centre, where she came for a medical consultation.
 Her house and those of her neighbours were ravaged by the cyclone Batsirai. His rice, coffee and pepper crops were also destroyed. Normally, the rice was to be harvested in April.
 She says:
"During the cyclone, we took refuge in a smaller house because the larger ones were blown away. The wind blew violently, and we were not able to anticipate the consequences by reinforcing the houses, nor by storing food.
  Without money, we can't do anything. If health care wasn't free, we wouldn't go to the doctor. You do the doctor yourself."

The catastrophic flash flooding that ensued on 11 April in the eThekwini region in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal Province has left 40,000 people homeless and many are sheltering in community-based schools, churches and halls without food, cookware, mattresses, blankets, clothes and basic hygiene products. MSF has provided kits comprising these non-food items to more than 500 individuals, and to free shelter residents from dependence on food packs MSF has equipped three community shelters with kitchenware including stoves, fridges and freezers.

MSF’s third medical train referral in Ukraine: arrival in Lviv.

06 and 07 April – 40 patients evacuated by train from #Kramatorsk. One transferred in #Kyiv and 39 transferred in #Lviv

This follows after another evacuation the previous day of 17 patients from Kramatorsk to Dnipro.

We heard the horrific news on the morning of 08 April that Kramatorsk station had been hit by one or more strikes.

“I am horrified by reports of bombing or missile strike today on Kramatorsk station. We were there yesterday, and we saw hundreds of people crowding the station, trying to leave. The hospitals had been urgently calling us to evacuate their patients by train. Most came from #Sievierodonestk and other towns in #Luhansk region. We were just in time with this train. Big questions whether we will be able to go back to evacuate more people.”

Rahma, Midwife supervisor, is holding a newborn named Rivan. “All the feedback I have received (about the facility) has been positive”, she says. “People say that our services are useful. One day, a patient left us a note to thank us, for the services but also for our attention and the human approach we’re taking (in providing our services).”

“I want to be a police officer. I want to be a soldier,” says eight-year-old Zainidin, making his mother laugh. He has TB and needs to take five pills a day for 11 months to treat it. His mother Surayo (29) is supports him every day and motivates him to follow the treatment as she knows it is the only way for him to be completely cured. She also takes care of her daughter Bibisoleha (6) who has TB as well.
