50-year-old Borow Ali Khamis stands outside their makeshift shelter with his family at the Dagahaley refugee camp. He was a farmer and livestock keeper in Somalia, but has lost everything due to the long drought.

“I left Somalia because of the drought after I lost everything. My journey here and my stay now has been fully dependent on people’s kindness. I came with one of my two wives and six children. I left one wife in Somalia as she had younger children as I couldn’t gamble with my whole family.” Borow Ali explains.

Israeli authorities have put extraordinary pressure on residents of Masafer Yatta to leave the area. As well as demolishing people’s homes, they have installed checkpoints, confiscated residents’ vehicles, and enforced curfews and other movement restrictions. These measures, which have intensified in recent months, have severely impacted residents’ freedom of movement, mental health and ability to access basic services, including medical care.

In the three days since an attack on a residential building in central Dnipro killed at least 40 people, teams from international medical organisation Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) have been providing survivors with medical care, psychological first aid and kits of essential relief items. In addition to those killed in the blast, 75 people were injured and around 30 people remain missing.

Before this photo of Abangma Celestine was taken in Mamfe District Hospital in South-West Cameroon, she had experienced complications in her pregnancy, and when she began bleeding, she sought medical attention. Without any treatment available nearby, she walked for a full day from her home in Bache village, to Saatum, where people called her a Doctors Without Borders ambulance.

On the afternoon of June 27, the MSF team rescued 71 people from a rubber boat in distress. 22 people are missing, three persons were stabilized, including very young children, and one women died later on board after 30 minutes of resuscitation. A woman and her baby in critical state were also evacuated to Malta during the same night. This is another tragic rescue in the Central Mediterranean and everyone is in a very weak condition and traumatized. The MSF medical team on board is looking after the survivors until disembarkation in a place of safety.
