Global benefits
MSF entities historically offered different benefits to staff based on their location and/or staff group. However, the lack of common global guidance led to inconsistencies and perceptions of unfairness. This also created challenges in collaboration and hosting between entities and limited career mobility for staff.
To address these issues, MSF has developed global benefits applicable to all staff, ensuring consistency and fairness among staff groups. These benefits align with MSF's principles and values , take local norms into account, and establish a clear baseline for MSF as a responsible employer.
The topics covered by the global policies include:
- Leave (paid leaves, parenting leave, circumstantial leave)
- Provisions in case of death
- Short-term disability/sick leave,
- Long-term disability
- Healthcare.
Other benefits, such as retirement savings and disability, were also analysed during the Rewards Review and have been identified for consideration in future as part of MSF’s strategic workforce planning.
The development of these global benefits incorporated staff perspectives and priorities. Feedback gathered through staff engagement activities highlighted the importance of specific elements of rewards packages.
These benefits reinforce and align MSF's practices and contribute to making the organization an attractive employer fostering a supportive work environment for a diverse workforce.
