For several weeks, around 200,000 Rohingya Muslims from Arakan (Rakhine) in Burma have been fleeing to Bangladesh, targeted by the government’s “Dragon” operation, officially carried out under the pretext of checking nationalities.

The government in Rangoon (Yangon) does not recognize the Rohingyas as Burmese (from Myanmar) citizens. More than 200,000 have taken refuge in Bangladesh, where they live in precarious shelters with insufficient water and food supplies.
