“We spent several months in the basement, without light or food supplies. It was very damp there and Vanya developed a bad cough. Before leaving, we didn't even go into the house. We had our documents with us, so we just grabbed a backpack and left,” recalls Yuliia Murashkina. Her family occupies two rooms in a shelter in Dnipro. Yuliia and her son, 12-year-old Vanya, live in one room. In the next room is Yuliia's 17-year-old daughter Kateryna and her children, 3-year-old Sasha and 2-month-old Damir. Yuliia first left her home because of the war in 2014, when Vanya was not yet one. "I only had his rompers and a bottle of food with me. So when I had to flee for the second time in 2022, I wasn't worried about my belongings. I was only afraid that we wouldn't make it, because the previous evacuation bus had been attacked."

We provide medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare. Our teams are made up of tens of thousands of health professionals, logistic and administrative staff - most of them hired locally. Our actions are guided by medical ethics and the principles of independence and impartiality. We are a non-profit, self-governed, member-based organisation.
