Over the past few days, hundreds of people have arrived in the provincial capital city of Pemba, Cabo Delgado, fleeing from the violent attacks that took place in Palma last week. Together with the government and other humanitarian organizations, MSF will contribute to the response by providing medical support to the displaced population that is being temporarily sheltered at the stadium.

Étienne Oumba, is a neighbourhood chief, and the founder and president of the Association of United Victims of the Central African Republic (AVUC). Étienne talks with Nadia, a community agent from MSF, in his office in Bangui, CAR, on 11th December 2020. Among the 3,000 victims of sexual violence he has identified so far, 700 are women. After directing a survivor to MSF for medical and psychological care, he accompanies them in their pursuit of justice. The medical certificates produced by MSF at the Tongolo centre help Étienne and the survivors as they represent proof that an incident occurred. One of his main challenges is the ongoing insecurity in CAR. “There are victims who don't want to pursue justice because sometimes their assailant influences them and says that if you bring me to justice, I'll kill you.”

Theophile, MSF emergency team doctor, examines a child with measles at the Bosobolo general referral hospital. The Bosobolo health zone in Nord-Ubangi has been affected by measles for several weeks. MSF has sent an emergency team to treat patients and vaccinate all children from six months to nine years old.

In February 2021, an MSF emergency mobile team went to the Bosobolo health zone, North Ubangi, to support the provision of care to patients in eight health centers as well as in the general hospital. The team launched the vaccination of 66,000 children in this isolated health zone, and trained local health workers in patient care and epidemiological surveillance.
