Abdul 11 month, has been admitted for malnutrition in the MSF center of intensive nutritional treatment in Gwange (district of Maiduguri). His family fled to Mafa. She is host by parents in Maiduguri. The displaced people living among the host community do not receive food help.
Nigeria

MSF begins surgical activities in the city of Maiduguri, treating victims of a large attack.

In response to recent attacks that caused many injuries, MSF began performing trauma surgery at the hospital on 28 December. Project Update - 6 Jan 2016
 
A cholera epidemic that has been spreading in Kenya for over a year hit Dadaab refugee camp complex in November 2015. As at 16 December, around 541 people in Dadaab had reportedly been affected, the majority of whom are living in Dagahaley camp. MSF has expanded its regular hospital activities in Dagahaley and has constructed a cholera treatment centre to deal with the influx of patients. In the space of three weeks, MSF admitted 307 patients to its treatment centre.
Kenya

Cholera outbreak spreads to Dadaab refugee camp

A cholera epidemic that has been spreading in Kenya for over a year has now hit the Dadaab Refugee Camp complex, on the border with Somalia. So far around 541 people have reportedly been affected, the majority of whom are living in Dagahaley Camp. Project Update - 17 Dec 2015

Chad

Deadly attack on Koulfa Island

A triple suicide attack that took place on the island of Koulfa in the Lake Chad area in Chad on Saturday morning has reportedly killed 30 people and wounded up to 200. Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams present in the area have immediately mobilised to provide support to the Chadian Ministry of Health. Project Update - 7 Dec 2015
 
Moukalla, inhabited by 500,000 people, is one of several district affected by the storms. At some 75 km away on the west coast, rains and high winds have caused damage in the district of Boroom-Mayfa and needs are similar. The team has provided 14 water tanks to more than 430 displaced families living in the district.
Yemen

MSF provides help to people affected by the cyclones in the province of Hadramaut

Two cyclones in one week hit the southeast coast of Yemen early November and did major damage. Hundreds of families have lost their homes in the provinces of Hadramaut. In Moukalla, the main city of the governorate, small houses have not withstood the tornado, torrents of water spilled into the city and destroyed bridges and infrastructures. Double-tap bombing on MSF-supported hospital – hospital partially destroyed – patients under treatment died in transit

A double-tap barrel bombing on Saturday 28 November on an MSF supported hospital in a besieged zone in northern Homs governorate, Syria, has caused 7 deaths, the partial destruction of the hospital and an influx of 47 wounded patients needing to be transferred to nearby field hospitals, some of whom died en route. Mediterranean migration

Meeting the most pressing needs at the Calais Jungle

MSF hadn’t expected to build wooden shelters in Calais. The refugees who ended up at the “Jungle” site didn’t expect to stay for long. Calais was to be just one phase of their journey, but it has become nearly impossible to continue on to England. With winter approaching, MSF will provide shelters to protect them from the cold, in collaboration with a project initiated by volunteers. Project Update - 27 Nov 2015

MSF treats 60 people wounded in grenade explosions

In July and August, 16,000 people arrived to the camp fleeing an upsurge in conflict and hunger. They live in makeshift shelters in an an area of the camp not designated for habitation. The conditions in this part of the camp are filled with trash, mud and barbed wire. 3
South Sudan

Dramatic increase in patients in Malakal’s UN site as living conditions jeopardise health of thousands

Following an influx of 16,000 IDPs in July-August, conditions remain unacceptable and it's impacting the health of the population: the number of under-five children treated by MSF per week has increased 5-fold since June, largely as a result of poor sanitation and over-crowding. Since the beginning of the project in 2016, the pediatric ward already treated more than 4.000 cases of complicated/severe form of malaria.

Our teams are made up of tens of thousands of health professionals, logistic and administrative staff - most of them hired locally. Our actions are guided by medical ethics and the principles of independence and impartiality. We are a non-profit, self-governed, member-based organisation.
