An MSF nurse and two village health workers are visiting the remote village of Kuruk Pata in Alikadam Upazilla to provide malaria treatment to the population. To reach the village the MSF team had to travel 3 hours by boat.

MSF has been working in Bangladesh since 1985 and has responded to several emergencies in the country, particularly in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. During its malaria intervention in the Bandarban district, MSF has been working along with other national and international organisations such as UNDP, BRAC or GRAUS, as well as with the Ministry of Health.

 *** Local Caption *** On October 25, MSF started a distribution of anti-malaria treatment in Monrovia to 300,000 persons, adults and children above 6 months.  The distribution targets in Monrovia the poorest and highly densely populated areas where access to health care is very limited due to the collapse of the health system caused by the Ebola crisis. The objective is to eliminate malaria and to keep families from entering Ebola centres and becoming contaminated. Three rounds of distribution, one per month, are planned.

Hundreds of wounded in Syria after crowded market is bombed in besieged Damascus suburb

he bombing of a crowded market on 9 October caused hundreds of casualties in Erbin town in the East Ghouta suburban area near Damascus. Some 50,000 people have been under siege here for more than two years. The medical humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), which supports more than 100 health facilities throughout the country, including in East Ghouta, is deeply concerned that doctors in Erbin, as in other besieged areas, are struggling to respond to the massive influxes of wounded.
