Fatima Mohamed, 37, holds the remains of a shell that hit her house in Hasahisa camp, Central Darfur, destroying it and killing her brother and his son. She currently lives in a straw hut in the courtyard of a school in Hamidya camp near Zalengei, the capital of Central Darfur. "My name is Fatima Yousif Babeker Mohamed. This shell hit my home, killed my brother Suleiman Eshag and his son. It destroyed our house in Hasahisa camp. We had to stay down on the floor and run away. We don’t have anything, and we are not getting anything. We came empty-handed with our children. We are suffering, we don’t have water, we don’t have food to eat. The people of this community received us in this school where we are staying. They bring us something to eat but we often sleep with empty stomachs. I’m suffering, I have my grandmother at my home. She is totally dependent on me and my brother was killed as there is nobody else to support me. We have been living here for a long time. Eleven months or maybe more. I have a big family. I have children, my mother, my brothers’ and sisters’ children. We are all suffering over here. We are just people seeking work that can bring us some money, but this is meaningless given the needs we have for a family of our size. I try to go to collect some firewood to sell and bring something to my family to eat. If one goes to collect firewood, they get beaten. Tomorrow, I have to go back to work, even if I get beaten again."

Dans la soirée du vendredi 4 au samedi 5 avril 2025, une vingtaine d’hommes armés appartenant au M23/AFC sont entrés dans l’enceinte de l’hôpital de Kyeshero à la recherche d’anciens combattants ayant trouvé refuge à l’intérieur de l’hôpital et ne souhaitant plus en sortir depuis plusieurs semaines. Au cours de cette opération, nos équipes ont été témoins de tirs. Une personne a été tuée, trois autres blessées. Deux membres du personnel de l’hôpital en service ont été frappés. On the evening of Friday, April 4 to Saturday, April 5, 2025, about twenty armed men belonging to the M23/AFC entered the Kyeshero hospital compound in search of former combatants who had taken refuge inside the hospital and had not wanted to leave for several weeks. During this operation, our teams witnessed gunfire. One person was killed and three others were injured. Two hospital staff members on duty were beaten.

The Walikale general reference hospital is the only referral hospital in Walikale territory, North Kivu province, eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. In cases of serious complications or rare or unusual diseases/illnesses, Médecins Sans Frontières refers patients by helicopter to Goma, the provincial capital of North Kivu.

In Arauca, a department in dispute between non-state armed groups on the border with Venezuela, MSF has started a project in early March that will offers exual and reproductive health services, comprehensive care for survivors of sexual violence, mental health consultations, care for children under five years of age; and will support the first level structures. Charles Baraka Chanung iyo, 18, was attacked by assailants as he was sleeping in his house. He suffered gunshot wounds to the arm and machete wounds to the wrist. That day, his sister-in-law and aunt were also wounded, and his wife was killed. He fled to the lake and was directed by fishermen to Angumu General Hospital (HGR), where he spent 6 days before being referred to the MSF-supported Salama Hospital in Bunia, which specializes in traumatology for the war-wounded. He stayed there for two weeks.

Ludmilla, 40-years-old and her son Vladislav, 11-years-old, are being checked by Kirill, Kelly and Grisha from MSF in a metro station in Kharkiv, Ukraine, on April 11, 2022. Ludmilla used to be a refueling operator before the war, in the sourroundings of Kharkiv city. For two weeks, she stayed home under the bombings, but one day, a loud eplosion was too close and she came to live in the subway. "I was very scared and worried for my child when I saw him presing our cat on his chest, saying : mommy, I don't want to die." Until the last second, they hesitated with her family between going abroad or staying : "But Kharkiv is our city, we need to stay, and we need to stay together," she says. So they moved with her mom, husband and son. "All the cold, the bad sleep, it is nothing compared to the war," she says. "At least we feel safe here." She came to see MSF because of knee problems that have started around a year before. She had done all the tests in December, and had an operation planned for the end of February, but then the war started. "Running while coming her eI urt myself even more," she says, hoping to get some painkillers.

Our actions are guided by medical ethics and the principles of independence and impartiality. We are a non-profit, self-governed, member-based organisation.
