In October 2017 US backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) took control of the northern Syrian city of Raqqa following an extensive air and ground assault. Those escaping Raqqa faced a network of explosion hazards that coursed through the city, devices that are still injuring and killing those returning to the city now.
