MSF is first to treat children with MDR-TB

For the first time, children in Tajikistan with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) are receiving treatment for the life-threatening disease. MSF has opened a new ward in Machiton hospital, near the capital Dushanbe, where it plans to treat 60 to 100 children with TB, and their family members, over the next three months. Tackling child malnutrition in Helmand

Providing surgical care

In August 2011, MSF opened a surgical hospital in the northern Afghan province of Kunduz. It is the only specialised surgical centre in northern Afghanistan. In less than a year after the hospital opened, the MSF team has treated more than 3,700 people. Project Update - 21 May 2012
