Athens - Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has sent an emergency team to provide medical and psychological assistance to the people stricken by the unprecedented fires which have been raging throughout Greece for the past five days.

The MSF team will support Peloponnese (southern Greece) health centres through the provision of medical assistance, as well as giving psychological support to the victims of the most devastating fires the country has ever witnessed.

In addition, there will be a medical and humanitarian needs assessment on the ground to indicate whether further assistance in terms of either medical staff or emergency supplies is needed.
