MSF national staff member shot dead in the provincial town of Beledweyne, in the Hiraan region, Somalia.

Geneva - It is with great sadness that the humanitarian medical organization Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has learned of the violent death of Ibrahim Abdi Isse, MSF national staff member as a hospital watchman in Beledweyne, Hiraan region, who was killed while off duty on July 9 at 10:30a.m.

The tragic death of Ibrahim Abdi Isse is not linked to his activities with the humanitarian medical organization. Our sources indicate that the killing was the result of a personal dispute.

This sad incident in no way influences the commitment of MSF towards assisting the population present in the region. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.

MSF has been working in Somalia since 1991. The organization manages regular medical projects in the Bay, Banadir, Mudug, Galguddud, Hiraan, Lower Shabelle, Middle Shabelle, Middle Juba, Lower Juba and Bakool regions.
