MSF treating victims of violence in Masisi region, North Kivu

"Masisi is completely isolated. The main road between Masisi and Goma (60 km) is highly insecure. On top of this, the bad condition of the roads, due to heavy rains, probably impedes the return of other displaced people. We are concerned by the bad living conditions of these people. But we haven't been able to reach them because of the security situation." - Philippe Havet, MSF emergency team coordinator. Project Update - 7 Sep 2007

One example is Guadalupe, a town of 12,000 inhabitants located 100 km southeast of Pisco in the suburbs of Ica city. Project Update - 28 Aug 2007

Cholera strikes again in Guinea

Endemic in West Africa, Cholera has once again struck in Guinea. The arrival of the rains at the end of May, notably in the particularly insalubrious capital city, Conakry, has created an ideal breeding ground in which the disease can spread. Faced with an increasing number of cases, MSF has boosted its direct support of the health services. Project Update - 27 Aug 2007
