We set up the MSF Access Campaign in 1999 to push for access to, and the development of, life-saving and life-prolonging medicines, diagnostic tests and vaccines for people in our programmes and beyond.

Treating war wounded in a city under siege

One team that MSF had set up in West Point has transformed itself into a wheelbarrow ambulance brigade. They have taken it upon themselves to bring severely injured patients to the MSF hospital in Mamba Point by stretcher and wheelbarrow. The camp has a capacity for 15,000 refugees who have fled the fighting in the neighbouring Central African Republic (CAR) and are unable to return due to a continued atmosphere of heightened insecurity.
