We set up the MSF Access Campaign in 1999 to push for access to, and the development of, life-saving and life-prolonging medicines, diagnostic tests and vaccines for people in our programmes and beyond.

Faces of the Crisis

The ongoing conflict in the North and East of South Sudan are distracting attention from regular healthcare concerns like the malaria epidemic that is affecting the West of the country. Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) teams are running 25 programmes, as well as outreach activities, in nine of South Sudan’s ten states, providing healthcare to people facing crisis, and runs programmes in neighbouring countries like Ethiopia to offer assistance to the South Sudanese refugees. Our teams are made up of tens of thousands of health professionals, logistic and administrative staff - most of them hired locally. Our actions are guided by medical ethics and the principles of independence and impartiality. We are a non-profit, self-governed, member-based organisation.
