We set up the MSF Access Campaign in 1999 to push for access to, and the development of, life-saving and life-prolonging medicines, diagnostic tests and vaccines for people in our programmes and beyond.

Mauritania

Nearly one thousand Malian refugees pour into the Mbera camp every day

Since late January, some 57,000 Malians have entered the Mbera refugee camp in Mauritania. Refugee numbers are steadily increasing, from 200 arrivals on April 5 to 1,500 a day. In response to this massive influx, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is bolstering its activities and emergency medical aid in this desert area, where access to medical care is extremely limited. MSF hospital caught in centre of fighting in Mogadishu

MSF condemns the shelling of Daynile Hospital in Mogadishu. The fighting began in the morning in this neighbourhood of Daynile, located in an outlying area of the city. Wounded patients are still arriving at the MSF hospital in Pibor, three weeks after the violent attack on the town and outlying villages. MSF engaged in challenging emergency response after intercommunal violence in Jonglei State

On 7 January, MSF returned to Pibor town with 12 medical and logistics staff to provide an emergency response in the aftermath of last week’s intercommunal violence. As at 10 January, 60 of the 155 locally-hired MSF staff remain unaccounted for. MSF deeply shocked and saddened by the killing of two staff members in a serious incident in Mogadishu

It is with great sadness that MSF confirms that two staff members were killed this morning as a result of a shooting in the organisation’s compound in Mogadishu.
