In Cairo, we are providing mental health support and supporting a specialised burns clinic. Outside of the capital city, we are also working in the Aswan governorate, providing people with mental health support through mobile clinics.

MSF in Egypt in 2025 In 2025, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) scaled up mobile activities to assist Sudanese refugees in Aswan governorate, in southern Egypt.

Egypt continues to host large numbers of refugees who fled from the war in neighbouring Sudan. Hundreds of thousands of people have gathered in southern areas of the country, close to the border.  

From January 2025, our teams started to run regular mobile clinics in five different locations in Aswan governorate, in partnership with the Om Habibeh Foundation (OHF), an Egyptian NGO with a long history in the governorate.  

The aim of these mobile clinics is to facilitate access to healthcare for communities in the area, both Egyptian and Sudanese, and reduce pressure on existing health facilities. We focus on providing general consultations and mental health support, as well as referrals to other health facilities for additional medical care.

The mobile clinics, consisting of doctors, nurses, psychologists, and health educators from both MSF and OHF, visit two locations in Aswan city, and the surrounding villages of Daraw, Karkar, and Nasr Al-Nuba, where people struggle to obtain the care they need.
