"Before we were denied access by the government , there had been very worrying conditions, precarious situations, that the civilian population were living in. I saw, personally, several empty and burnt villages. ... I saw women and children being chased away from the wells when they tried to collect water. ... We have been talking to a number of people who have been displaced and they're very concerned for their health, and for the health of them children in particular. Many people are living in the bush, very afraid. We feel we need to go back to ensure that the health status of the population is not deteriorating, that they do have access to assistance - and we hope to get back very soon."
