Yasin is a 9-year-old boy from Afghanistan, who visits the MSF pediatric clinic once a week with his father Mohtar, to consult with a child psychologist.
He suffers from nightmares and is constantly afraid that something bad will happen to him in Moria. When he grows up, he wants “to help children like his psychologist” in the MSF pediatric clinic that is located right across from Moria. Yasin lives in a makeshift shelter in the olive grove, with his 3-year-old brother and their parents.

"My name is Ibrahim. I am 60 years old and am living with a disability. I’m from the town of Abbasi in Hawija but have been displaced since ISIS attacked in 2017. First I moved to Haj Ali camp and then later to Laylan Camp. I got injured in the Iraq-Iran war.

"I’ve been living in Laylan camp for about a year. I have several children, some of them are married. We live as five in each tent. Each four tents use a joint bathroom.

"My first wife died because of the grief she felt for her son who died. I’m suffering from high blood pressure and my current wife has kidney disease. Last year our family lost a 5-month-old baby because of the cold. After that there was blanket distribution and kerosene for heating.
Two of my sons work so we can eat. They work outside of the camp as daily workers. One of these sons is married and has children of his own.

"With the curfew (imposed after corona), my sons are not able to find work. But we manage, we get some onions and tomatoes from here and there.

"Cleanliness in the camp depends on each family cleaning habits. A month ago, we were given us bars of soap but that’s not for cleaning toilets. For that we get no cleaning liquids. Also, the amount of soap is not enough for my big family. Now I cannot bathe."

في ظل انتشار كوفيد-19 في مختلف أنحاء اليمن، فإن الخوف واسع النطاق يمنع الناس من السعي للحصول على الرعاية الطبية. وشرعت مؤخرًا منظمة أطباء بلا حدود في دعم مركز جديد لعلاج كوفيد-19 في مستشفى الشيخ زايد في العاصمة اليمنية صنعاء. بيان صحفي - 12 يوليو/تموز 2020

“I didn’t really know why I was locked up. We were asked to stay inside,” said Hassan, a 26 year old Bangladeshi. In Ras al Nabaa neighbourhood in Beirut, two buildings were put on lockdown by the Lebanese authorities after more than 70 migrant workers tested positive to COVID-19. Anxiety and stress were felt by many of the residents, many of whom were daily workers and were left without any source of income as the situation had prevented them to go to work for two weeks. People living in the building had to deal with many uncertainties: when would the isolation end? What would be their next move? Would they still find a job after this? As part of its medical intervention, MSF provided mental health support to the building’s inhabitants, through daily group sessions or phone consultations with an MSF psychologist.

Abu Fadel, Hassan and Iman… all three are living in Idlib Governorate in northwest Syria. Like 2.7 million other Syrians, they’d been displaced within the country several times, and a part of them ended up in Idlib. The last rebel stronghold, bombed in massive airstrikes led by the Syrian army and its allies, Idlib has become home to a population nine years of war have left shattered, impoverished and without hope for the future. Their backs against the Turkish border, Abu Fadel, Hassan and Iman recount similar stories of everyday life—the interminable waiting, fear and horror of war in what is an open-air prison.

In mid-June, the airstrikes resumed in Idlib Governorate, the target this time the zone west of Maarat-al-Numan. Most people in opposition-controlled areas in this Governorate are living in poverty, and many have moved from towns to camps around Dana, Sarmada and Atmeh where MSF teams provide assistance. The displaced talk of an environment of corruption, crime and social violence, and the area where they have taken refuge continues to shrink with the passing months and the Syrian regime’s relentless attacks.
