My life as a refugee in Malaysia

An unknown number of foreigners live in Malaysia without the right papers. Many have fled conflict or persecution in their home countries. Though their legal status does not reflect it - because Malaysia is not a signatory to the Refugee Convention - these people are refugees and would be recognised as such in many other countries.

The international humanitarian organisation Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) has been offering medical and psychological care to migrants in Malaysia for two-and-a-half years. As the organisation prepares to hand over its activities to local organisations, MSF invited four people from Myanmar to tell their stories in photographs and words.
