Photo Journal: Malnutrition in Somalia
Mulki, a health assistant, is weighing a child with kwashiorkor. We measure the child’s height on admission to assess the severity of the malnutrition. There’s a special chart that everyone uses to figure out whether the child has mild, moderate or severe malnutrition. During the child’s stay, we continue to weigh and measure height and oedema.
