Many people in Galgaduud are nomads, living scattered over a vast area and frequently on the move in search of water and fodder for their goats and camels. Along with the ongoing conflict, this makes it unrealistic to launch a major vaccination campaign in the area.

Photo Essay: Seven million vaccinated for meningitis in West Africa
This year the worst meningitis epidemic in a long time has killed up to 2,000 people and was contracted by 60,000 in West Africa. In its biggest ever vaccination campaign, MSF medical teams have vaccinated more than seven million people in Nigeria, Niger and Chad.
