Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural disasters. MSF offers assistance to people based only on need and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation.

MSF International is the legal entity that binds MSF’s 21 sections, 24 associations and other offices together. Based in Geneva, MSF International provides coordination, information and support to the MSF movement, and implements international projects and initiatives as requested.


The ITC UniData Manager is a long term position and part of the International Technical Coordination (ITC) team and reports to the ITC coordinator.

The ITC UniData manager is responsible for the parts of UniData that are in production after the go live (planned for end of April 2016).

The Project Manager of the codification project is responsible for those parts of the codification project that are not yet in production in UniData.


As part of the ITC team, the UniData Manager will have the responsibility of the coordination of the activities that are in production in the UniData platform. UniData is MSF’s central supply article database that details all items available for the field and shares article changes within the Movement. The online platform of UniData gives an oversight on standard and non-standard articles available as resources for operations, in alignment with MSF guidelines and protocols.

The Codification project is finalizing the development for the go-live of phase 1 where approximately 100 users will access the UniData platform. The UniData Manager will be the focal point for all the different stakeholders of the platform for Phase 1 topics that are in production. S/he will ensure the good functioning of the platform and the communication between the different types of users: European Supply Centres (ESC), Operational Centres (OC) and ITC.

The UniData Manager will also report to the Data Governance body for important topics.

Every time a Codification phase 2 (and later on possibly phase 3) item is  developed and ready to go into production, the responsibility of that item will be handed over from the Codification Project Manager to the UniData Manager.


The role of the UniData Manager covers the information that has been put in production into UniData by the Codification project and covers the following responsibilities:

  • Be the focal point for all stakeholders’ feedback and requirements concerning UniData items in-production system.
  • Maintain communication with all stakeholders that are using UniData in the production environment.
  • Ensure that the central database UniData is managed properly (training, technical issue tracking and resolution, data quality monitoring, master data questions follow-up, reporting)
  • Ensure that the linkage between UniData and other platforms is running.
  • Maintain constructive relationships with all stakeholders (several decentralized decision taking platforms).
  • Organise the Data Governance Council meetings to cover topics of data quantity and quality, rules change requests, adoption rate of UniData.
  • Gather and propose ideas for Unidata functionalities and possible scope extensions of Master Data management to the Codification Project Manager.
  • Collaborate with the Codification Project Manager who is in charge of Phase 2/3 topics that will be developed and put in production to UniData.
  • Collaborate with the Codification Project Manager to ensure that topics are clearly assigned between the Codification project (development) and Unidata platform (production).



  • Relevant degree in information technology or business degree, or any similar education;
  • Knowledge and/or experience of supply chain management systems, with a good understanding of the IT side.


  • Several years of experience and interest in running and maintaining IT solutions  in a broad organisational context (support, enhancement requests, steering committee)
  • Experience with functional design of information systems
  • Experience with Master Data systems
  • Experience with Catalog Production systems
  • MSF field experience an asset


  • Fluent in English (both speaking and writing) and good knowledge of French
