Video: A Month in Focus - October 2011

This video update highlights some of MSF's activities over the past month:

In this issue:

Libya: Aid without discrimination
Libya has just entered a new era. However, until Sirte fell, heavy fighting continued to cause many victims.

Somalia: The medical aid challenge
In camps like this one in the Hodan district, nearly 5000 children in Mogadishu have received therapeutic food in recent weeks. MSF wants to go further in treating the most severe cases of malnutrition. Nearly 500 children were hospitalised in September.

Haiti: The never-ending epidemic
Over the past year, cholera has contaminated nearly half a million people. More than 6,300 people have died as a result of the disease. The epidemic continues.

Central African Republic: Halting premature mortality
MSF arrived in Carnot in 2009 in response to a nutritional crisis. Since then it has been preoccupied by the prevalence of HIV/Aids and tuberculosis, two significant factors in premature mortality. An assessment has revealed alarming mortality rates in this diamond-producing region.
