Photo of the Week: Refugees from CAR seeking shelter and medical care in DRC

Thousands of refugees who have fled violence in Central African Republic (CAR) are now struggling to survive in desperate conditions in Equateur province, northern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Living in makeshift settlements and in villages along the River Ubangi, which separates the CAR from the DRC, refugees speak of the horrors they have witnessed on the other side. But life in DRC is hard for refugees and host communities alike, as food and clean water are scarce, and humanitarian assistance has so far been minimal.
