Notice: E-mail scams and hoaxes
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has received reports of third parties attempting to fraudulently collect money on our behalf via email or networking sites on the web.
In some cases, these emails have taken the form of claiming to provide reimbursements for donations and have named actual MSF staff or senior management in their appeals in order to bring a sense of credibility to their communications. In other instances, perpetrators of these schemes use aliases, often under the name of an MSF employee, on networking sites in order to lure unsuspecting subscribers to send them funds to cover the travel costs of an alleged MSF staff member to return home from a field assignment or pay for an individual medical procedure for a fictitious patient.
If you have any reason to suspect that you have been approached by a third party posing illicitly as an associate or affiliate of MSF, via email or other online communications, please forward the communication or description of the incident to firstname.lastname@example.org and put “Fraud” in the subject line.
