Mud slides in Nozhay-Yurt, Chechnya

MSF has responded a landslide that took place in Nozhay-Yurt district of Chechnya on Thursday Jan 8 where approximately 50 houses were destroyed - some 250 people have left the area temporarily. A state of emergency was announced by local authorities. Fortunately no casualties were reported. MSF was at the location the following day delivering mattresses, blankets, pillows and heaters, along with washing basins, buckets and 17 water tanks with a 40l capacity. In addition, a one-month supply of basic drugs and a materials hospital kit have been delivered from our emergency stock. This is the second landslide in the region as of late with ten homes having been destroyed in mud slides several weeks ago.
