Mongolia: New AIDS prevention programme

International staff : 8 National staff : 3

A model campaign is being developed for combating the spread of AIDS, in close collaboration with the Mongolian ministry of health and a Mongolian partner organisation.

The provision of information to health care personnel in the areas of AIDS/HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases will also be improved. In collaboration with a Russian partner organisation, MSF will set up an AIDS information centre and train health professionals on pre and post HIV test counselling.

The team in Mongolia is almost entirely composed of Russian staff who have gained experience in the AIDS prevention project in Russia. The coordinator of the safe sex campaign in Moscow will also provide the team with intensive support, both on the spot and from Moscow. The team is based in the Mongolian capital, Ulan Bator.
