Gallery: Malamulo scholarship programme in Thyolo, Malawi
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), in collaboration with the Malawi Ministry of Health, introduced the Malamulo Scholarship initiative in 2010 to train mid-level health workers in the rural district of Thyolo, Malawi, where MSF has been working for the last 15 years. The scholarships cover tuition fees, accommodation costs, a monthly stipend and a medical gear kit they receive upon graduation. In turn, the scholars are required to work for the Ministry of Health in the areas from which they were recruited for a duration of five years. The first four of the 40 who were awarded this scholarship recently completed their studies and officially graduated in December 2012.
