Gallery: Aftermath of Malawi floods

Torrential rains in early January caused catastrophic flooding in southern Malawi, leaving up to 20,000 people cut off from the rest of the country, without food, healthcare or ways to prevent possible outbreaks of disease.

MSF started its emergency relief operation on 8 January, with mobile clinics providing emergency relief to four locations. Although still operating mobile clinics at camps for internally displaced people in Chikwawa district, MSF is focusing its intervention in the Nsanje district where few other medical organisations are working and where the biggest health risks are present, especially the East Bank of the Shire River.
